January 5, 2016 – Hyundai Motor has revealed further details of the new IONIQ ahead of its launch in Korea later this month. The innovative alternative-fuel compact vehicle, now available for pre-order in selected markets, is the first-ever car to offer a choice of three efficient and ultra-low emission powertrain options in one body type, explained on the Hyundai Ioniq Forum
The latest interior and exterior renderings reveal more of the IONIQ’s eco-friendly credentials, with its advanced powertrain technology central to Hyundai Motor’s aim for the world’s best hybrid fuel-efficiency. The newly-developed platform, available with full electric, plug-in petrol / electric hybrid, or petrol / electric hybrid powertrains, also delivers a fun and responsive driving experience to match the emotional appeal of the car’seye-catching lines.
The exterior of the IONIQ features a distinguished, cutting-edge aerodynamic design. Simple yet carefully wrought contours enhance the IONIQ’s coupe-like silhouette and minimize wind resistance by assisting the efficient management of airflow. At the front of the car, familiar Hyundai design themes are evident – notably the signature hexagonal grille – as striking blue and white colors blend with the headlights to visually depict the purity of the IONIQ as an eco-friendly car.
Alfa Romeo Forums
Alfa Romeo has been making a lot of noise about how their new Giulia is set to be a return to form for the brand and is more than a competitor for the autobahn burners from BMW’s M division.
If this rumor is true, then the Alfa has beaten the BMW on its home turf. Italy’s Blog di Motori is reporting that the Giulia lapped the legendary circuit in the Eiffel Mountains in 7:43 seconds, a full nine seconds quicker than the BMW M4’s 7:52 laptime.
Of course, like any Nurburgring time claim, this is a rumor and has not been verified by the fine folks at Alfa Romeo.
The other rumor that Blog di Motori is presenting is that the Alfa actually makes 530 horsepower, not the 502 that Alfa originally said it had. That’s a full 100 more than the BMW makes.
If this is all true, the Giulia QV will be more than a match for the M3/M4
The Audi e-tron quattro concept is designed from the ground up as an electric car and proves to be pioneering in its segment at the very first glance. It follows the Audi “Aerosthetics” concept, combining technical measures for reducing aerodynamic drag with creative design solutions. Movable aerodynamic elements at the front, on the sides and at the rear improve the air flow around the car. The aerodynamically optimised underbody is completely closed. With a cd value of 0.25, the car sets a new record in the SUV segment. This contributes considerably to the long range of more than 310 miles (500 kilometres).
The study is based on the second-generation modular longitudinal platform, which provides considerable scope for the drive system and package. Its length is between that of the Audi Q5 and the Q7. BMW Motorrad unveiled its first-ever small capacity motorcycle, the G310R, prior to its debut at the 2015 EICMA. This will be the first BMW to be designed and engineered in Germany but assembled at TVS Motor’s Hosur facility in India, and the first product to be launched as part of the two manufacturer’s strategic alliance.
The G310R follows the same design language as BMW’s explosive litre-class naked, the S 1000 R. The V-shaped headlight with golden-finished upside-down forks gives the front an aggressive look.
The G310R gets a well-sculpted tank with tank extensions and a large exhaust.
The G 310 R’s chassis consists of a tubular steel frame with an inverted front fork and single shock, and even though suspension travel is fairly long at 140mm front and 131mm rear, seat height is a relatively low 30.9 inches. A single 300mm front brake disc (with radial-mound four-piston caliper) and a 240mm rear disc provide stopping power, and ABS is standard equipment. Porsche 718 Series
Porsche has confirmed the facelifted Boxster and Cayman will be powered by four-cylinder turbocharged engines, discuss both models on the the Porsche 718 Boxster Forum and Porsche 718 Cayman Forum respectively when they arrive next year.
The new name is a reference to the Porsche 718 of the 1950s. It was the successor to the 550 Spyder and used four-cylinder engines with great success – a 718 RSK won its class at the 1958 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

As well as the name change the range has also be reversed too – just like the 911 range, the drop-top Boxster will be positioned above the hardtop Cayman. Porsche has made the switch as both cars already offer technical similarities and in the future both will have equally powerful engines.
The new flat-four turbo engines have been introduced in a move to drive down CO2 emissions, the Stuttgart-based sports car firm will introduce turbocharged flat-four boxer engines for the first time in the Cayman and Boxster.

Boxster and Cayman boss Dr Stefan Wechbach told Auto Express at the Frankfurt Motor Show the move to smaller capacity turbocharged engines has been prompted by emissions, although turbo engines will: “offer the advantages our customers want: performance, acceleration, high speed and torque”.
It’s unclear whether Porsche will continue to offer six-cylinder engines in the Cayman and Boxster range, but Wechbach hinted feedback on the existing Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder’s 3.8-litre naturally aspirated engine was “overwhelming”. Porsche is believed to be considering continuing to offer six-cylinder engines for the hottest variants of the new Cayman and Boxster.
SEAT ateca forum
It appears that SEAT could be about to name the first SUV in their lineup after the Pyrenean valley, in line with their product naming policy.
Monitering the internet constantly, our spies detected the reporting of SEAT registering the SEAT Ateca moniker with the expected crossover thought to be based on the 20v20 concept the most likely recipient.
The name was probably derived from the Val d’Aran, which can be found in the Pyrenees, located on the border with France.
KIA Niro Forum
the KIA Niro won’t share major components with either. And while Kia is giving us our first look at the Niro only in sketch form, the so-called “hybrid utility vehicle” appears close to production, given the sale-ready bumpers, lights, grille details, and side mirrors; not to forget, the Niro concept from 2013 already staked claim to the name “Niro concept.” We’re waiting to hear back on whether the Niro will debut at this week’s L.A. auto show or in January at the 2016 Detroit show. The reputation for cheap and rugged off-roaders that’s come to define SsangYong in the UK is upheld by 4×4 versions of the Tivoli, but many customers will settle for the greater fuel economy of the front-wheel drive examples. A further choice between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed auto, which is the same as the gearbox found in the MINI, gives the Tivoli one of the most varied ranges in the compact crossover class.
SsangYong hopes that this broad scope of choice, coupled with the Tivoli’s attractive design, generous specification and five-year unlimited mileage warranty will be enough to attract buyers – and that’s not to mention a starting price of under £13,000. The Tivoli isn’t the last word in quality, but it handles neatly, offers lots of cabin space and looks good. Buyers choosing it will still be motivated primarily by value for money, but SsangYong won’t mind that one bit, as the car should be surprisingly good to own.
The new seven-seater SUV from Skoda may be called the Kodiak and is likely to make its official debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show after a web reveal during the summer months. It will be based on parent company VW’s MQB platform and will slot in above the Yeti.
The Kodiak is expected to share much of its underpinnings and feature list with the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan XL but will in essence be a lower cost version of the latter. It is expected to get front-wheel drive as standard but will also get AWD options across both engine options. Expect a seven-speed DSG as well as a six-speed manual across the range.
According to the Skoda Kodiac Forum the car will be Skoda’s D-segment weapon of choice in markets like China, India and in certain regions of Europe where Skoda’s cars are quite popular. It will be built at Skoda’s Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic.
Mercedes SLC Forum
The Mercedes-Benz SLC has been given a modest facelift and a name change as part of a rebadging policy, which has already seen the ML crossover become the GLE. SLC was last used on a Merc on the 107-edition SL back in 1971.
SLC buyers have a choice of four engines, including an entry-level SLC 200 Sport that has 184hp and is mated to a six-speed manual or an optional 9G-Tronic automatic. CO2 emissions are 150g/km with the manual and 138g/km with the auto.
The Mercedes SLC Forum tells us the same 2.0-litre petrol also comes in SLC 300 form, which has an output of 245hp and the 9G automatic gearbox as standard. Then there’s the 2.1-litre diesel SLC 250 d, which has 204hp and CO2 emissions of 114g/km.
Atop the range is the Mercedes-AMG CLS 43, which has a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo with 367hp and 520Nm of torque. 0-62mph takes 4.7 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 155mph. Meanwhile CO2 emissions come in at 178g/km – a saving of 20g/km on the outgoing SLK 55 AMG.
The US production version will be revealed later this year before arriving in showrooms in spring 2017 for the 2018 model year. The compact high-riding model will likely take center stage as the Japanese automaker retires Scion and attempts to give its core Toyota brand a more youthful image.
“The style and substance of the production C-HR will make it a winner in the hottest segment in the industry,” said Toyota VP Bill Fay.
The production crossover will be built on the modular Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, sold with traditional powertrains and a gasoline-electric hybrid system repurposed from the Prius. Front- and all-wheel drive will be offered, though the company has not yet confirmed technical details for the US-bound edition.
The C-HR will be positioned below the RAV4, serving as Toyota’s entry to the mini-CUV segment. The company appears to believe the C-HR’s unique styling will give it an edge against the Honda HR-V and other rivals. Technology from further up the range
Along with the optional Audi virtual cockpit and the head-up display, the driver assistance systems for the Audi Q2 also come from the larger Audi models – including the Audi pre sense front with pedestrian recognition that is standard. The system recognises critical situations with other vehicles as well as pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle, and if necessary it can initiate hard braking – to a standstill at low speeds. Other systems in the line-up: adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, traffic jam assist, the lane-departure warning system Audi side assist, the lane-keeping assistant Audi active lane assist, traffic sign recognition and rear cross-traffic assist.
The Q2 is equipped with a standard MMI screen that is positioned high on the instrument panel. The infotainment system can be operated by a rotary/push-button control and two buttons on the centre tunnel. When MMI navigation plus with MMI touch is ordered, the user also gets a touchpad on the central control element. In addition, the system can be conveniently controlled by natural language operation and the integrated MMI search. Furthermore, customers can use MMI touch to query the online services of Audi connect. The flat rate data plan required for this is included thanks to the SIM card (embedded SIM) that is permanently installed in the car. It also permits roaming in most European countries. Mobile phones with iOS and Android operating systems are integrated into the car via the standard Audi smartphone interface. The free Audi MMI connect app enables online media streaming and transfer of a calendar from a smartphone to the MMI. The app for iOS operating systems also has the myAudi destinations function. It makes it possible to send the data of a desired navigation destination from any app to the MMI navigation plus system. The system then uses it for navigation.
